Established in 1878, Alamosa is one of the most beautiful towns in the American state of Colorado. Packed with numerous scenic attractions such as Great Sand Dunes National Park, San Luis Lake State Park, Alamosa Wildlife Refuge, Zapata Falls and Alamosa Ranch and Open Space, it attracts thousands of leisure travelers every year.
Despite being a small town, the city is the main shopping center of San Luis Valley and has a number of markets including a Walmart Supercenter, two super markets, City Market and Safeway and a Walgreens. Alamosa also has a number of restaurants serving a wide variety of fast food, shops selling souvenirs and antiques and farmer markets offering locally made organic jams, jellies and bakery. The city is also home to Cattalais Golf Course. It is an 18-hole championship course and has a new clubhouse opened in 2008.
